CAMP DODGE, JOHNSTON, IOWA – The Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs is hosting Memorial Day at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (IVC) (34024 Veterans Memorial Dr, Adel, IA 50003) May 25th at 8:00 a.m.; and another ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at Iowa Veterans Home (IVH) in Marshalltown (1301 Summit St., Marshalltown, IA 50158).
Volunteers will set flags at Iowa Veterans Cemetery Friday, May 22nd at 9 a.m., weather permitting.
Media and the public are invited to attend these Official State of Iowa Memorial Day Recognitions. These are free public events.
At Iowa Veterans Home
Lieutenant Colonel Jodi Marti, Battalion Commander, 334th Brigade Support Battalion, Iowa Army National Guard - Recently re-deployed from mission in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. For those unable to attend, this ceremony will also be broadcast state-wide on the IVH Facebook page, and available later on the IDVA YouTube Channel.

- Des Moines - 10 a.m. The Marine Corps League's Larry Nehring Detachment will hold its annual Memorial Day event at the memorials on the south side of the State Capitol. Program starts at 10 am and the guest speaker is Roger Blanchfield, Army and Vietnam Veteran.
Council Bluffs: "The Wall That Heals": The traveling 3/4-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display at the Mid-America Center from May 22 through May 25. A closing ceremony is scheduled for Monday, May 25, at 2:00 p.m.
Waterloo: Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum: The museum will host special Memorial Day hours on May 25. Admission is free for all Veterans. A screening of the Voices of Iowa: Pearl Harbor documentary will be held at 11:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., with refreshments served throughout the morning.
Cedar Rapids: Cedar Memorial Park: A Tribute Ceremony will be held Monday, May 25, at 11:00 a.m. featuring patriotic music and a keynote address. Their "Avenue of Flags," featuring over 1,500 American flags, will be on display all weekend starting Saturday morning.
Keokuk: Keokuk National Cemetery: The VA’s National Cemetery Administration is hosting a formal ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25, at Iowa's only National Cemetery.
- Des Moines: 9 a.m. Highland Memory Gardens hosts a service with bagpipes, honor guard, and Patriot Guard Riders, featuring a 2-mile "Avenue of Flags".
West Des Moines: 11:00 a.m. McLaren's Resthaven Chapel & Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa, will host its 95th Annual Memorial Day Service of Remembrance at The event at 801 19th Street honors fallen heroes with a community gathering.
Johnston: 5 a.m.-noon old Star Memorial Day Blood Drive at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum with free breakfast.
McGregor: 10 a.m. McGregor-Marquette Chamber Memorial Day Parade.
Sioux City: Memorial Day Ceremony at Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by Fleet Farm Taps Across America.
